Punjab State Power Corporation Limited in a press release has informed that in the FY 2019-20, upto the month of August total hydel generation from PSPCL hydel plants is 2588.5 Million Units (MUs) in comparison to only 1533 MUs in the last financial year (2018-19) during the corresponding period which is 1055 MUs i.e. 69 % more. Previous highest generation from April to August was in FY 2014-15 was 2519 MUs which was also very good year from hydel generation point of view. Good dam levels at the beginning of the season, good rains and optimum operation of all hydel plants by PSPCL has helped to achieve such record results and record generation. 4 units of 150 MW each at RSD have provided much required flexibility and reliability to the power grid.
Maximum Generation during a single day of Ranjit Sagar Dam was 149.02 Lac Units (LUs) i.e. Plant Load Factor(PLF) of 103 % on 28.08.2019, which is more than the maximum daily generation in FY 2018-19 i.e. 133.79 LUs on 24.09.2018 and 141.25 LUs on 10.08.2017 in FY 2017-18. Similarly, maximum daily generation of Shanan Power House was 26.61 LUs (101% PLF) on 13.05.2019, which is more than the maximum daily generation in FY 2018-19 i.e. 26.42 LUs (more than 100 % PLF) on 24.07.2018 and 26.19 LUs on 09.08.2017 in FY 2017-18.
U.B.D.C. Hydro Electric Power House also crossed its single day maximum generation by generating 19.56 LUs continuously on 29.07.2019, 01.08.2019 and 06.08.2019 to 16.08.2019.
