A spokesman of PSPCL informed in a press note that Punjab State Power Corporation limited has successfully catered to historical maximum demand of 12,842 MW on 27th June, 2019 against previous historical maximum demand of 12,677 MW met on 26th June, 2019. Last year, the highest ever maximum demand was 12,638 MW met on 10th July, 2018. Maximum demand on 27th June, 2019 i.e. 12,842 MW is about 165 MW higher as compared to 12,677 MW met on 26th June, 2019 and 204 MW higher as compared to 12,638 MW met on 10th July, 2018. Last year maximum demand on 27th June was 10674.7 MW.

PSPCL supplied 2,742 Lakh Units (LUs) of electricity on 26th June, 2019 to all the power consumers within Punjab without imposing any power cut on Domestic, commercial and industrial consumers and 8 hrs to AP consumer which is highest during the ongoing paddy/summer season thus far which is 77 Lakh Units (LUs) more than last year (2,665 Lus) on the same day. Last year, PSPCL surpassed its own record of highest ever energy supplied during a day with supply of as high as 2,749 LUs of energy within state on 04th August, 2018. PSPCL stated that 4 units of GGSSTP Rupnagar, 3 units of GHTP Lehra Mohabbat , 31 units of Hydel including 3 units of RSD were running in addition to all the five units of IPPs in the state.

PSPCL is providing daily 8 hour power supply to its agriculture consumers in Punjab from 13th June, 2019 i.e. start of paddy season along with 24 hour power supply to all other category of consumers. All AP consumers in the state have been divided into 3 groups at each sub-station.
