Punjab State Power Corporation Limited of Punjab is playing a principal role for contributing of 34.1% share in the central pool of the food grains in India and Punjab state is contributing 245.2 Lakh Tons (Rice & Wheat) (As per statistics of Punjab Agriculture Year 2017-18, Punjab had contributed 245.2 Lakh Tons (Rice & Wheat) in central pool.
Er. Baldev Singh Sran CMD said that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited is committed to provide daily 8 hours uninterrupted power supply to its 14 lacs agriculture tubewell consumers in Punjab for the coming paddy season from 13th June, 2019 and 24 hour uninterrupted power supply to all other category of consumers. Er.B.S.Sran said that PSPCL has already made detailed preparations to cater power supply to its consumers.
CMD said that last year PSPCL catered to unrestricted Maximum Power Demand of 12638 MW and had surpassed the record of highest ever energy supplied 2749 LUs of energy on August 4,2018 on Saturday which was a weekend when many of the government offices, public institutions, colleges and schools etc were not working due to weekend holiday in state, which was a challenge to meet, but corporation had successfully met by regulating power from all the available sources optimally.
Er. Sran anticipated that in the coming paddy season the maximum demand in the state can rise up to 13,500 MW and PSPCL has made arrangements for more than 14000 MW. Arrangements have been made for 1000 MW from own Hydro, 1760 MW from own thermal, 4580 MW from central sector plants including BBMB, 3372 MW from IPPs in Punjab, 819 MW from NRSE sources and 2570 MW through Banking agreements.
Er. Sran CMD assured that all esteemed customers of PSPCL would be provided continued, uninterrupted and quality power supply in the state. He said that daily power supply to all AP consumers in the state has been divided into 3 groups at each sub-station. He added that AP consumers of the PSPCL will be provided 8 hours power supply in day timings along with the international border of Punjab. A buffer stock of 4/5 transformers of various capacity would be maintained at all Divisions in Punjab for replacement against damage so as to reduce time for replacement and restoration of Supply.
Er.Sran said that directions have been issued to the officers/officials not to leave their headquarters during the paddy season. He said that in order to update the status of power supply position and to redress complaints of the customers special control rooms are being setup at the zonal levels and at Head office Patiala.
