MUKERIAN HYDE PROJECT STAGE-I &II
MUKERIAN HYDEL PROJECT, STAGE-I (207 MW)
Mukerian Hydel Project is one of the main Hydro Electric Projects in the Northern Region situated in the Hoshiarpur District of Punjab. The Mukerian Hydel Project is run of the river project, constructed at Mukerian Hydel Channel emanating from Shah-Nehar Barrage constructed down stream of Pong Dam on River Beas . The Barrage has 52 gates and a small artificial lake of holding capacity 3404 acres feet to feed the Mukerian Hydel Channel. Mukerian Hydel Channel is 37 Km long and lined with Cement Concrete and having maximum water carrying capacity of 11500 cusecs. The Mukerian Hydel Project Stage-I comprises of 4 No. Power Houses. Power House No. 1 & 2 have 6 Nos (3 at each Power House) Machines of 15 MW capacity each whereas Power House No.3 & 4 have 6 Nos. (3 at each Power House) Machines of 19.5 MW capacity each. The total installed capacity of 12 nos. Machines of Mukerian Hydel Project Stage-I is 207 MW.
MUKERIAN HYDEL PROJECT STAGE-II (18MW)
Mukerian Hydel Project Stage-II is constructed at RD-880M of newly built Mukerian Hydel Channel-II of approximate 3.5 Km length, off taking from RD-35500m of Mukerian Hydel Channel of MHP Stage-I, of maximum carrying capacity of 11500 Cusecs. Stage-II of Mukerian Hydel Project consists of one Power House named as Power House No. 5, Terkiana. Power House No. 5 has 2 nos. Machines of 9 MW capacity each. The total installed capacity of Mukerian Hydel Stage-II is 18 MW.
The Power Houses of Mukerian Hydel Project Stage-I&IIare situated at different reduced distances (RD’s) of the Mukerian Hydel Channel and located as mentioned below:-

The generating Units at each Power House of Stage-I can be put in service with minimum flow of ≈1600 cusecs. The Mukerian Hydel Project Stage-I generates electrical energy at 11 KV and after stepping up to 132 KV, the same is transmitted to Grid system at 132 KV. Power House No.1, is connected with Power House No.2 and Power House No.2 with Power House No.3 and, Power House No.3 with Power House No.4 through 132 KV double circuit lines carried on towers. There are four 132 KV circuit lines for evacuation of electric energy generated, two numbers at Power House No.2 to Jalandhar (through 132 KV Bhogpur and 132 KV Tanda circuits) and other two at Power House No.4 through 132 KV Sri-Hargobindpur Circuit I&II.
Power at Stage-II of Mukerian Hydel Project is generation at 11KV and stepped up to 66KV. Generated power at Stage-II is evacuated through 66KV single circuit to 66KV Bhattian Jattan Sub-station and 2nd 66KV Single circuit to Power House No.4 of Stage-I of Mukerian Hydel Project.
