COVID-19 pandemic, PSPCL has given more relief to the electricity consumers

On the directions of Capt. Amarinder Singh Chief Minister, Punjab in order to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has given more relief to the electricity consumers of the state.

Spokesman of the PSPCL disclosed that the due date of electricity bills of all the Domestic & Commercial consumers having current monthly/bimonthly bills up to Rs.10,000/- and all Industrial consumers i.e. Small Power (SP), Medium Supply (MS) and Large Supply (LS) payable from 20th March, 2020 till end of May, 2020 has been extended up to 1st June, 2020 without levy of late payment surcharge.

Spokesman also said that those Domestic, Commercial and all industrial consumers who are unable to pay their bills even upto 1st June, 2020, have been given an option to pay the same in a maximum of 4 monthly instalments and instead of late payment surcharge (LPS)&late payment interest(LPI)( LPS @ 2% for consumers catered at LT supply and upto 5% for HT/EHT consumers & LPI @ 18% per annum),only 10% per annum interest will be charged provided the current bills with due date on or after 1st June are deposited timely.

Spokesman also added that no new disconnection of any consumer against non-payment of bills will be done till 15.6.2020. The security revision of all categories of consumers has been deferred till 31st December 2020.The Demand Notices of industrial and all other categories of consumers wherein the validity falls between 20.3.20 to 31.5.20, have been extended up to 30.6.2020 without payment of demand notice extension charges.

In case of Industrial and all other categories of consumers (New as well as extension cases) whose Feasibility clearance has been approved and the validity to submit the A&A form falls between 20.3.20 to 31.5.20, the same has been extended up to 30.6.2020 without any financial liability. All the pending connections will be released by 15.06.2020.

Spokesman further informed that written instructions have been issued to all the field offices to implement the above decisions.
