Anti Power theft wing of Ludhiana of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has arrested Sh. Parminder Singh Mangat running an agricultural implements workshop in a direct power theft case here today.

Er.Baldev Singh Sran CMD,PSPCL said that after checking of the premises of consumer, PSPCL has issued notice and registered an FIR no 184/2014 against consumer on June 26,2014 for committing direct theft of electricity from LT pole by using 4 core cable. For theft of power, PSPCL had issued notice no 451 dated June 26,2014 for a sum of Rs 3152550 as compensation for theft of energy and Rs 370000 for compounding charges against the consumer.

The representation of the consumer, was reviewed by SE/DS circle Khanna and SE /Headquarter Ludhiana jointly and it was decided on Dec 31,2014 that the consumer should be charged according to the LDHF for 8 hrs instead of 20 hours for one year. On the basis of the decision, the consumer was issued a final notice no 102 dated 04-02-2015 of Rs 1261089 as compensation for theft of energy and compounding charges of 370000. But the consumer did not make any payment. Therefore recovery suit was filed against the consumer in the Honble Lok Adalat Fatehgarh Sahib in which the next hearing is 12-6-2019

CMD Er B.S.Sran said that with the theft of electricity by one consumer, many honest consumers have to pay more charges. Er.Sran has appealed to all the consumers to inform about the theft of electricity. The name of informer will be kept secret. He said that theft of electricity is a crime and strict legal action will be initiated against the concerned one and no offender will be spared.
